This Workshop has been discontinued as of June, 2016. It has been replaced with a new Croquis workshop.

Video of Bob Jackson's sketches from the Moving Model Workshop at the Plastic Club.
Considered a Special Workshop - usually held Saturdays 9:30-12:30.

Sorry - Bob  Jackson doesn't have a computer link or other "online presence"
(as shared by Bob Lee).

Video and Film

Uploading videos - some examples:

1. Zach Snyder's 1st experiments with animation  (Warning: Contains light violence):

Video Courtesy of Zachary Snyder, 2013

> This video has been posted into the blog and then disappeared twice already.

> To embed (or share) a video like Zach's into a Blog page -- see this Google help page:
    https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/80767?hl=en

Note - The video URL is not the same as embedding video code.

2. DoN Brewer's YouTube channel has several interesting, handmade and often personal
videos which link to his various endeavors:

Hopefully, I embedded his video channel into the Video Links Panel (Channel Box);
which also has a habit of disappearing.

3. The Channel Box feature helps to minimize searching for various videos through the posts.

Printmaking-Woodblock

This post will be dedicated to Woodblock printing - including the variety of styles and its history.
Woodblock is one of the oldest hard-block techniques known to man.

Although I have several projects in mind I won't have any woodblock works of my own for awhile.
So, I decided to start with works from others who enjoy using this method for printmaking.

Beginning with a video-connection to the works of David Bull, who is a master of traditional
Japanese Woodblock methods of printmaking.

Printmaking - Salt Etching

Elke Muller sent me a PDF that addresses using PNP-Blue (Toner-Transfer) in electrolytic/saline-sulfate etching.
I will link PDFs, websites and other information later.

I actually have a variety of etching (and transfer) methods on my list for future posting.
Done quite a bit of research and have had some practice, but need more of both.

Played with a few techniques but haven't gotten to Electrolytic Processes yet.
We just started up the Saline-Sulfate etch last year.
Electrolytic etching is next on our list -- which also uses saline sulfate.
It uses an (electrical) battery charge so I want to make sure the salt-etching solutions are mastered first.

I've used PNP-Blue several times for toner-transfer acid etching with good results.
Toner makes a good resist for acid, so I'm glad to see it works for saline.
The grounds that are used for acid get mangled by the saline-sulfate.
Only the traditional "toxic" ones are holding up.

Still working on a good acrylic-ground recipe.
(For more info see this group's extensive research - http://www.nontoxicprint.com/hardandsoftground.htm)

I have worked with other techniques which also yielded good results.
The effects can vary a bit and are interesting.

We'll also be able to expand photo-techniques when the exposure room is finished.

Various projects with images will be added later.

Please note - I'm extremely cautious in my approach to publishing until I'm more skilled.
So - subject items can take to long to appear.

Changing the Comments Posting Link

Everyone is frustrated with Blogger's setup for guests to leave comments (messages).
There really aren't any easy options for changing the default comment setup in Blogger
without going to HTML.

So far I found this design help:

Rights

I have concerns about copyright protection, etc., so I'm being careful about what's
posted until I have some of the issues resolved.

I've spoken with Susan Stromquist and a few others about internet copyrighting.

Some Information that needs to be researched and verified:

- "Poor Man's Method" which recommends sending an email attachment to oneself.
- The possible fact that uploaded works are automatically considered copyrighted
material when posted into a blog or other media page.
- Official copyrighting of the business name/person independently should cover all
   situations stated on the license.
So, make sure that the licence covers internet domains!

Other considerations:

- Online album services often provide usage controls for images.
- Control distribution by creating a downloadable PDF with desired restrictions.
Web Images can then be made "right-click" disabled (requires code modifications).
The restricted PDF can then be substituted for the disabled features.

Archival Protection

Merv asked me about laminating.
I'm no expert but I've had some exposure.
From my experience laminating can serve a useful, protective purpose in preserving
artworks and publications but can also cause long-term damage if not applied
correctly to each situation.

Some things to consider when preserving artworks and publications:
